Offroad Motorcycle Helmet Communication Options

The communication options for offroad helmets are similar to those used on bluetooth helmets, with a little bit if extra sound buffering. Most of the communication kits also come with a push-to-talk controller on the handle bars rather than on the side of the helmet to keep in control while you are communication with your friends or pit crew. Here are the best selling comm options for your new off road helmet:

What really is “Off-roading?”

Riding off the road, or also known as “Dune-Bashing” and “Cross Country Riding,” is taking your motorcycle (or other offroad vehicle) and getting away from any man made path. These include roads, highways, gravel roads, and any other paved or cement surface. Typically going anywhere that there is not a path is considered “Off Roading.”

Why do I need an Off Road Motorcycle Helmet?

So when you are really looking at the types and brands of offroad helmets, you will notice them some are called adventure motorcycle helmets, or dual sport helmets. Which of course, can start to get a little confusing if all you want is a great helmet to go riding in. Just know that these are designed for riding on and off the road in. So both riding conditions are considered.

With an Off Road Motorcycle Helmet – it is for that purpose and that one purpose only. Riding off of the road.

Offroad LED Helmet Lights

A lot of motocross bikes do not come with headlights. While this is a problem if you head off into the forest on an adventure and don’t make it back before dark. Bring along a simple LED light that you can attached right to the side of your helmet (where that GoPro usually goes), and find your way back.  Or you can use a handlebar light for a bicycle (I won’t tell anyone) in place of a helmet light to light your way home. There is a difference in riding where you are lighting the path that your bike is in compared to lighting where you are looking at (with a helmet light mounted to the helmet). Better to try both and see which one is for you.
